在民國三十八年，就是公元1949年，當時國民政府決定重新恢復銀本位制度。于是，“貴州省政府”就在十月十五日開始制造這款銀幣，到十一月十一日停產，制造開工時長，未及一個月，且該幣其實只在貴州省內流通了很短時間，數量稀少，對外影響很小。 貴州竹子幣在泉屆的專門名字叫做“貴州竹枝銀幣”，正面中央為貴陽市的甲秀樓圖案，外圈上邊緣楷書鑄“中華民國三十八年”，下邊緣鑄“貴州省造”楷書字樣；左右端稍下側分鐫五瓣花圖案。背面為金竹三株圖案，左右兩邊鐫楷書“壹圓”二字，該幣含銀量為百分之八十八，作為地方政府發行銀幣，含銀量不算低了。
文中此款“貴州銀幣”也稱“圓窗版貴州省造壹圓竹子”，貴州省造壹圓竹子銀幣一改我國傳統銀幣樣式，設計新穎別致、鑄工較為精湛，正面中央為貴陽甲秀樓風景圖案。上環為“中華民國三十八年”字樣，下環為“貴州省造”字樣，在樓柱的右側下特別鑄了一個很小的“谷”字，該字很隱蔽，需仔細查看才能發現，此“谷”字系指當時任“貴州省政府主席”谷正倫之姓。該幣背面中央為金竹三珠圖案（故當地人又稱該幣為“竹枝版”銀幣），左右兩側為面額“壹圓”字樣。該幣成色達百分之八十八，貴州竹子銀幣存世量極少，屬于銀幣收藏中的珍品。
