1900年，即光緒二十六年，福建巡撫奏請在福建設置機鑄銅元造幣廠，以原來的福建省銀元局為基礎，命名為福建銅元局。后來，還先后建立了三個造幣廠，用于鑄造這種錢幣。最開始的時候，發行的福建官局造光緒元寶只有三種面值，分別是當五文、當十文、當二十文。

福建官局造光緒元寶每枚當錢十文，鑄造時間是光緒27年，也就是1901年，直到1912年才完全停止鑄造。福建是繼廣東省局之后，較早開始鑄造銅元的省份之一，不僅采用了和廣東一樣先進的設備、技術和幣模，同時還更具特色。 福建官局造光緒元寶每枚當錢十文的材質是紅銅，這一點是非常少見的，因為大部分光緒元寶都是白銀鑄造，唯有少數幾個省局鑄造采用的是銅。這也和當地的原材料以及財政有關。
Each piece of Guangxu Yuanbao was made by Fujian government bureau as ten coins. The casting time was 27 years in Guangxu, that is 1901, and it was not completely stopped until 1912. Fujian is one of the provinces that started to cast copper yuan earlier after Guangdong Provincial Bureau. It not only adopts the same advanced equipment, technology and coin mold as Guangdong, but also has more characteristics. It is very rare that the material of each piece of Guangxu Yuanbao made by Fujian government is red copper, because most of Guangxu Yuanbao are made of silver, only a few of them are made of copper. 福建官局造光緒元寶每枚當錢十文，錢幣正面珠圈內鐫漢文和滿文“光緒元寶”字樣，珠圈外上端鑄“福建官局造”五字，下鐫“每枚當錢十文”六字，兩旁鐫花飾之，字體端莊工整，筆畫剛勁有力。 錢幣背面蟠龍居中，龍紋極其精美，龍鱗細膩優美，線條棱角分明，紋理清晰流暢，圖案層次感強。 觀之，猶如一條翱翔天際的神龍，活靈活現，栩栩如生，讓人嘆為觀止，異常震撼;龍紋外圈為英文，兩旁鐫小花飾之，小巧可愛。

Outside the bead circle, five characters are engraved, "Fujian Guanju Zao" and six characters are engraved under it. On both sides, flowers are engraved. On the back of the coin, the dragon is in the middle, the dragon pattern is extremely exquisite, the dragon scale is delicate and beautiful, the lines are angular, the texture is clear and smooth, and the pattern has a strong sense of hierarchy. It's like a dragon flying in the sky. It's vivid, lifelike, amazing and shocking. The outer ring of the dragon pattern is in English and decorated with small flowers on both sides. It's small and lovely.
