光緒元寶是清朝光緒年間流通的貨幣之一。十九世紀末期，兩次鴉片戰爭的失敗和太平天國的打擊，使得清朝的部分官僚開始認識到西方堅船利炮的威力。為了解除內憂外患，鎮壓太平天國，實現富國強兵，徐圖中興，以維護清朝統治，他們開始學習西方文化及先進的技術，展開了洋務運動。在其“師夷長技以制夷”思想指導下，輪船、火車、槍炮等都被歸入改革之列，鑄幣業亦受影響。光緒十三年，兩廣總督張之洞向清政府奏請并得到批準，于是購買外國造幣設備，在廣東率先設立錢局首鑄機制錢幣，其后，各省紛紛仿效，購置國外機械鑄造銀、銅元。四川省造光緒元寶就在此背景下應世而生，極富歷史感。
Yuanbao of Guangxu is one of the currency circulating in Guangxu period of Qing Dynasty. At the end of the 19th century, the failure of the two Opium Wars and the attack of the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom made some bureaucrats of the Qing Dynasty realize the power of the Western hard ships and guns. In order to relieve the internal and external troubles, suppress the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom, and realize the prosperity of the country and the strong army, Xu Tu became prosperous in order to maintain the rule of the Qing Dynasty. They began to learn western culture and advanced technology, and launched the Westernization Movement. Under the guidance of the idea of "learning from foreigners to control them", ships, trains, guns, etc. were all included in the reform, and the coinage industry was also affected. In the 13th year of Guangxu's reign, Zhang Zhidong, governor of Guangdong and Guangxi, asked the Qing government for approval, so he bought foreign coinage equipment, and set up the first money bureau to cast machine-made coins in Guangdong. Later, the provinces followed suit and purchased foreign machine-made silver and copper coins. Under this background, the Yuanbao of zaoguangxu in Sichuan Province was born in response to the times, which is full of historical sense.
當三十銅元銅質分為紅銅、黃銅兩種，可見版式有水龍、飛龍和閉爪單寶龍三種。該枚四川省造光緒元寶當三十直徑38.9cm，重量21.71g。珠圈上面書“四川省造”四字，珠圈下面書“當三十”三字，珠圈左、右分別書滿文“寶”、“川”二字，珠圈內書“光緒元寶”四個大號楷書字，按上下右左順序排列，中心為芙蓉花團。形狀瑰麗，鑄工高超，圖案精美，觀其珍品，韻味無窮，具有巴蜀文化之特征，充分展示了四川省造“光緒元寶”當三十的魅力。

四川省造光緒元寶當三十文銅幣流通時間極短，故此問世數量極少。此枚錢幣包漿濃厚，品相極好，極具收藏價值。
