武昌起義后，各省先后宣布獨立，保路軍包圍了成都。趙爾豐控制不住四川的局面，只得將政權交給四川保路運動的領導人蒲殿俊等立憲派人士。于是，四川省也宣告獨立，成立了“大漢四川軍政府”，并接管成都造幣分廠。為擴充軍需，鑄造發行了這種“漢”字銀幣。
這種“漢”字銀幣有壹元、伍角、二角、一角四種幣值。“壹元”銀元正面圖案中央是一個很大的篆書“漢”字，代表了新政府“大漢”的意思，具有反清意義。“漢”字周圍有18個小圓圈，象征著當年響應辛亥革命的十八個省，兩側有四瓣花星，上方有“中華民國元年”六字；背面圖案中央是一朵精美的芙蓉花，象征蓉城成都；花的四周環有“四川銀幣”四字，上方是“軍政府造”四字，下方是面額“壹圓”字樣，兩側仍有四瓣花星。壹圓幣的重量比一般“袁大頭”、“船洋”、“龍洋”銀幣輕，僅為25.5克，成色不足95%，成色在94%--95%之間，伍角、二角、一角幣的成色則更遜色一些，成色在94%--94.87%。
民國元年（1912年）四川大漢軍政府鑄 大漢銀幣，幣值有：一元、五角、二角、一角四種。一元正面中央是秋海棠花飾，環圍“四川銀幣”，外有“軍政府造”、“壹圓”，左右分列四瓣花星，背面中央篆文“漢”，旁圍十八星，外有“中華民國元年”和四瓣花星。
一元以正面“四川銀幣”的字體大小分為兩種版別，大字版尤以背面紀年中“國”字小一點劃為罕見。有一種五角錯版，紀年文字“元”字誤成“無”字。
民國十四年（1925）鄧（錫侯）、田（頌堯）、劉（文輝）三軍聯合逐走楊森，進入成都后，鄧錫侯接管造幣廠，即步楊森后塵，全鑄半元與壹圓銀幣。由于鄧錫侯獨占造幣廠，引起劉文輝不滿。劉遂收買造幣廠制模工匠，為其雕模，在其防區雅安開鑄銀幣。川中軍閥盡皆仿效，劉部旅長劉元塘在會理、鄧部李家鈺在成都忠烈祠、城隍廟及遂寧防區、謝德勘在成都外南倒桑樹街、羅澤洲在順慶、鄧國璋在郫縣、黃逸民在灌縣、揚榮向在金堂、陳書農在合川、田部何瞻如在安縣、曾南夫在三橋南街紛紛開廠鑄幣。據不完全統計，當時川中軍閥鑄幣之所多達28處。其鑄伍角與壹圓幣，且成色低下，含銀竟有低至30%--50%者，高的也不足75%。故四川民間為區別之，稱前成都造幣廠所鑄伍角與壹圓幣為“廠版或者原版”，稱各地軍閥設廠所鑄伍角與壹圓幣為“雜版”。

According to incomplete statistics, there were as many as 28 Chuanzhong warlord coinage sites at that time. Its casting corners and one-yuan coins are of low quality, with silver content as low as 30% -50%, and high as less than 75%.
