光緒八年（1882年），吉林向朝廷奏稱“”吉林省制錢缺乏，市面益顯蕭條，再三商量，只有依照制錢式樣，鑄造銀錢，解決現錢的短缺”。奏準后于光緒十年（1884年）即令吉林機器局鑄造了廠平壹兩、廠平七錢、廠平半兩、廠平三錢、廠平一錢5種面值的銀圓。這是我國用機器自行設計制作的最早的一批銀圓，開創了我國機制銀圓的先河，在中國貨幣制造史上占有十分重要的地位。
吉林省造光緒元寶辛丑庫平一兩，該錢幣表面的包漿自然、歷史留下的痕跡清晰可見，極具收藏價值和觀賞性，正面珠圈內鑄有銘文“光緒元寶”，珠圈外上環鑄楷體“吉林省造”四字，底部鑄貨幣計值“庫平一兩”，幣中心為滿文“陰陽太極”。元寶背面內圈鑄有神龍騰飛圖騰，外圈環有英文品相精致，審美風格獨特極稀少難尋。
史載“光緒元寶”當時共十九個省局鑄造。除中央戶部，地方省所鑄銅元，皆在其正面上緣鐫寫省名。計有：戶部、北洋、湖北、江南、河南、湖南、江西、山東、廣東、清江、浙江、江蘇、四川、福建、安徽、吉林、奉天、廣西、新疆、黑龍江。而這枚吉林省造光緒元寶作為近代錢幣中最為精美鑄幣之一，其確實風格獨特，文化內涵豐富是不可多得的珍稀之品

Guangxu eight years (1882) , Jilin to the court said "Jilin Province lack of money, the market is increasingly depressed, repeated discussion, only according to the money-making style, casting silver money, to solve the shortage of cash. ". In 1884, the bureau of machinery of Jilin Province made five kinds of silver coins of face value, namely, one tael, seven tael, half tael, three tael and one tael. This is the earliest batch of silver circles designed and made by our country by our own machine, which is the first of our country's mechanism silver circles and occupies a very important position in the history of Chinese money making.
The surface of the coin is covered with natural and historical marks that are clearly visible. It is of great collection value and ornamental value. The inscription "Guangxu Yuanbao" is cast in a bead ring on the front, the outer ring of the bead ring is casted in regular script "made in Jilin Province" . At the bottom of the ring, the coinage is worth "one tael in Kupyn" . The coinage center is in Manchu Script "Yin Yang Tai Ji" .
