奉天光緒元寶癸卯庫(kù)平銀一兩銀元，俗稱“奉天一兩”，因未發(fā)行，屬試鑄樣幣。清朝早期的一兩銀元是45毫米版本，后期的為43毫米版本，兩種版式銀幣正面文字風(fēng)格有明顯差異，背面龍圖及英文相近。版本轉(zhuǎn)換時(shí)間應(yīng)在1903之后，我們知道眾多的珍稀銀元都是在1903～1908年之間，也就是光緒末年。

奉天省造幣廠是目前我國(guó)歷史最悠久的造幣廠，主要生產(chǎn)流通硬幣、金銀紀(jì)念幣等。據(jù)記載，光緒二十二年，根據(jù)盛京將軍依克唐阿的奏請(qǐng)，批準(zhǔn)設(shè)立并籌建奉天機(jī)器局以鑄造機(jī)制銀幣，從德國(guó)進(jìn)口鍋爐和以蒸汽機(jī)為動(dòng)力的鑄幣機(jī)器，于光緒二十三年(1897年)奉天機(jī)器局正式建成。

光緒二十二年（1896），奉天機(jī)器局銀元鑄造廠成立，次年試鑄，光緒二十五年（1899），清政府以鑄局太多，鑄造參差為由下令停鑄，光緒二十九年（1903），又允準(zhǔn)開(kāi)鑄銀元，同時(shí)還鑄造了一枚奉天一兩孤品樣幣，其后湖北、廣東、吉林、陜西以及戶部、北洋均鑄造過(guò)一兩銀元，有的還參與流通，但因換算不便而流通不暢，其時(shí)朝廷內(nèi)部出現(xiàn)為銀元單位問(wèn)題的爭(zhēng)論，即所謂“兩、元”之爭(zhēng)，最終清政府考慮到習(xí)慣與使用，頒布《厘訂國(guó)幣則例》，正式定國(guó)幣單位為“元”，而前鑄“一兩”面值的銀幣反成了絕品，由于歷史原因，頂尖的樣幣珍品多數(shù)流出國(guó)門。
