光緒元寶作為清代末期主要的流通貨幣發行了很多個版本，有一些發行時間短、發行量少的省份類銀元尤為珍貴，其中“浙江省造”光緒元寶就是一種。浙江省當時作為清政府主要稅收來源的省份之一，又是沿海開埠的主要地區對外貿易經濟發達需要大量的貿易銀元，但是浙江省自身沒有先進的機制幣鑄造能力，無奈之下只得委托別處代為鑄造，又因為清政府收回各地鑄幣權歸中央統一鑄造，所以“浙江省造”光緒元寶存世量相當稀少，備受錢幣收藏家關注。浙江地處沿海，通行洋銀甚早，清季雖已設廠造幣惟大量產制銀元是民國以后的事。由于籌建較遲，光緒二十五年浙局開鑄后即奉旨停工，機器拆遷他處;營運期間所出銀幣數額不多，由于當時錢荒嚴重，生產銅元更有利可圖，銀幣有充沛鷹洋可用而被冷落甚至擱置。

此枚浙江省造光緒元寶當十。錢幣正面中央鑄有“光緒元寶”，左右滿文“寶廣”，中間烙有梅花紋飾，外環珠圈，上緣紀地文字為“浙江省造”。下緣紀值文字為“當十”;背面中央鑄龍圖及火龍珠，上下鑄有英文。
