2015年新一輪的名貴中材誕生了，就是豬寶，再次被國內國外醫學界認可的，豬寶走紅醫院界，在現在熱門的電視劇（女醫明妃傳）中就有提到豬砂的用處。
豬寶又名豬辰砂，《唐本草》早記載稱為野豬黃，為豬科動物野豬膽囊中的結石，味辛、甘、平、無毒，外形如同豆粒，或呈粉末狀，外觀呈粉紅色或棕褐色,表面有少許光澤豬砂研究報告指出：豬砂是一種名貴緊缺中材，其形成時間較長，而豬的飼養期又很短，所以很少在豬體內發現，但也有偶爾可見的。動物腸胃中的“寶”，大家比較熟知的一般是牛黃、豬砂、狗寶、馬寶、雞寶、鴨寶、這六樣也被譽為中藥六寶。牛黃，是?？苿游稂S?；蛩５哪懩医Y石；狗寶則為犬科動物的胃結石；豬砂、馬寶，則是病馬胃腸道中所生結石；鴨寶、雞寶，也是它們的胃腸道或膽囊結石。不過，目前除了牛黃較常見之外，其它五寶相當難得，具有極高的藥用價值。
豬寶是一種名貴緊缺中藥材，其形成時間較長，而豬的飼養期又很短，所以很少能在豬體內發現，但也有偶爾可見的。它的藥用功效類似牛黃，主要用于清熱、解毒、化痰、定驚。對人體有鎮靜作用?？芍委熜募?、失眠等癥。有豬寶的豬一般有禿毛，吃食少，體溫高，行走無力，軀體枯瘦，眼睛發紅，臥不安寧，嚎叫不止的特征。宰豬開膛時，應檢查膽囊、膽管、肝管有無硬塊。如有硬塊，立即刮剝取出，剝除粘附著的內膜等物，再用干凈棉花、絨線包扎好，防止破裂散落，然后掛在陰涼處讓其自然干燥，不可風吹日曬，以免影響質量。由于天然豬寶很珍貴，國際上的價格要高于黃金。
該豬寶，整體外表布滿棕褐色豬毛，經過自然風干，重量基本已經穩定。從其性狀、色澤上看，已是一味老藥的樣貌，毋庸置疑是所有同類藥材中的上等絕佳品，價值極高！
