此枚袁大頭三年蘇維埃版正面為袁大頭五分戎裝像，上鈴‘蘇維埃’三字斧記，上緣“中華民國三年”，“民”帶一點；背面兩條嘉禾，左右交互，下系結帶，中鑄“伍圓”二字。錢幣上文字、圖案、花紋，色澤光鮮自然，紋飾深淺適度，邊緣線條粗細均勻，間距也疏密一致。人像、發絲、胡須、穗芒等細微之處清晰有度，很生動。
