這枚銀幣正反兩面制作特別精良，上面的紋繪特別的精美。這枚銀幣的正面內圈為楷體“光緒銀幣”，圈外“丁未”兩字,旁邊兩條簡化版“細龍”，上面攜帶“壽”字，寓意萬壽無疆。銀幣背面中央鐫“一兩”二字，兩側鐫雙龍戲珠圖案，代表著吉祥喜慶。兩條龍的背部與龍腹部分別鐫有三團云朵，下端鐫海浪圖案。

在光緒三十三年(1907年)該年，「度支部造幣總廠」試鑄有丁未大清銀幣銀元，而當時所鑄造出的“光緒銀幣”本欲糅合大清銀幣、光緒元寶而標新立異，結果反而弄巧成拙。因為這枚錢幣的面背樣式不見「滿文」，如果熟悉清廷對各省銀幣樣式的審批要求，就很容易知道這種新樣式的銀幣是不會被清政府所采納的。所以不懂的人被誤認為是臆造品，其實不然，因為當時此幣是作為做壽之用，鑄造量有限，流通出來自然少見，而后被清朝政府收回，了解的人更少。而正是這些原因所在，導致光緒銀幣丁未一兩銀元到如今被各大錢幣收藏愛好者視若珍寶。
