范曾，1938年生于江蘇南通，中國書畫大師，著名國學家、詩人。現為北京大學講席教授，中國畫法研究院院長，英國格拉斯哥大學、加拿大阿爾伯塔大學名譽文學博士，中國藝術研究院博士生導師、終身研究員，南開大學終身教授，南開大學文學院、歷史學院博士生導師，南通大學終身教授，稽山書院、盤山書院院長。2008年獲法蘭西公民之星金質勛章。2009年被聯合國教科文組織任命為“多元文化特別顧問”。2010年9月，法國總統薩科齊向范曾先生授予“法國榮譽軍團騎士勛章”。2011年獲“中華藝文·終身成就獎”。2015年6月30日意大利總統塞爾吉奧向范曾先生授予意大利共和國大將軍勛章。
Fan Zeng, born in Nantong, Jiangsu Province in 1938, is a master of Chinese painting and calligraphy and a famous Sinologist and poet. In 2008, he won the gold medal of French citizen star. In 2009, he was appointed "special adviser on multiculturalism" by UNESCO. In September 2010, French President Nicolas Sarkozy awarded Mr. Fan Zeng the "Knight of the French legion of honor". In 2011, he won the "Chinese arts and culture Lifetime Achievement Award". On June 30, 2015, Italian president Sergio awarded the order of general of the Republic of Italy to Mr. Fan Zeng.

范曾先生出身于中國延綿450年不斷十三代詩人的著名文化世家。他于文、史、哲諸領域博古通今、通郵中西，提倡“回歸古典、回歸自然”，身體力行“以詩為魂、以書為骨”的美學原則，對中國畫的發展厥功至鉅，開創了“新古典主義”藝術的先河。他的文、史、哲著述中，所透露的人文關懷為國內外學界所共稱，而其文章之雄奇優美，多次被譽為海內之首選。作為聯合國教科文組織多元化特別顧問，曾在聯合國教科文組織總部發表“回歸古典、回歸自然”“趨近自然”“根本善”的專題報告。1984年，日本岡山縣建立范曾美術館，為中國于世界唯一享此殊榮者。1986年，范曾先生捐建南開大學東方藝術大樓。范曾先生宅心仁厚，慈愛博施，曾被命名為“中國十大慈善家之一”。
