晏濟原，名平，素貞老人、老濟、濟公、江州散人、世紀老人，生于1901年，四川內江人，祖籍山東高密。中國美協會員，曾任重慶美協副主席、重慶國畫院副院長等職。2011年2月10日因病在成都去世，享年110歲。晏先生七歲從父習學詩文書畫，而后潛心研習石濤、八大、唐、宋等各大家，頗得精髓，學而漸成。1935年東渡日本，就讀于日本鐵道講習所、早稻田大學、東京大學。1938年回國后與張大千在北平中央公園“水榭”聯合舉辦畫展，后又多次與大千在成都、重慶等地聯合辦展。他就是被朱德稱贊的“海外有個張大千，國內有個晏濟原”的著名書畫家晏濟原。他曾與于右任、謝無量、何香凝、郭沫若、張大千、張善子、謝玉岑等交情深厚，并在當時畫壇享有較高的聲譽。
晏先生是當今畫壇最具全方位的高壽書畫家，早年與張大千同承師脈，推崇石濤、八大，近百年而不輟。他學古敵古，獨辟蹊徑，講求書畫同源，重視野外寫生。他擅長山水、人物、花鳥、篆刻，書法，亦精通詩詞。他不僅具有深厚的傳統功力，而且對工筆、重彩、寫意、潑墨、白描等多種繪畫技巧無所不精，無所不能。他的書畫秉承中國文人書畫傳統，以深厚的學養，堅實的功底，創新的精神，灑脫超然的畫風獨成一派。其人物畫、山水畫、花鳥畫及書法、篆刻皆精，畫風飄逸灑脫，高古雋秀，在國內、國際都頗有影響。
晏濟元先生從藝一生，繼承傳統，師法自然，他的畫早期簡練、古樸，中期工整、嚴謹，晚期蒼勁、奔放，尤以晚期作品用筆變化無窮，出神入化，達到了隨心所欲，高深莫測之境界。在晚年的創作中，工筆與寫意相結合，更見骨氣與瀟灑，使畫面結構不僅有其形，而且重其意，筆意墨色渾然一體，別開生面，大大豐富了畫作的詩情畫意，對傳統做出了大膽創新，體現出大師的氣魄與風采。
