鬼谷子下山的故事出自《戰國策》。故事說的是戰國時期,燕國和齊國交戰,為齊國效命的孫臏為敵方所擒,他的師傅鬼谷子前往營救,率領眾人一行下山。這件元青花人物罐“鬼谷子下山”描繪的便是鬼谷子下山的情景,鬼谷子坐在由獅虎共拉的兩輪車上。后面跟著兩個騎馬的人,其中一個穿著武官衣服打了一面旗寫有“鬼谷”兩字。整個青花紋飾共分四層,第一層頸部:飾水波紋;第二層肩部:飾纏枝牡丹;第三層腹部:為“鬼谷子下山”主題紋飾;第四層下部:為變形蓮瓣紋內繪琛寶,俗稱“八大碼”。

此件元青花珍品----“鬼谷子下山”青花大罐是敝人十多年前偶遇所得,該器形制作規整,釉色瑩潤,胎體厚重較適中。整器平口,短頸,豐肩,鼓圓腹,腹至脛部逐漸內收至底微外撇;素底胎骨顯麻倉土質,圈足斜削較淺,有明顯旋紋。通體共有四組紋飾組成,主體紋飾為歷史人物故事“鬼谷子下山”的情景為主,另外三組為輔助紋飾。

該罐的 主體紋飾衍生于中國戰國時期樂毅圖齊的故事,圖案中主要人物鬼谷子是軍事家孫子的師傅,他被請下山,以解燕國被強兵所圍之困。鬼谷子先生乘坐一輛由一虎一豹拉的兩輪車,跟隨兩個步卒。齊國使節蘇代騎馬殿后,兩個人之間有一少年,英氣勃發,縱馬而行。此罐人物刻畫流暢自然、神韻十足、栩栩如生,各種輔助紋飾也是筆筆精到,十分完美,顯然是出自具有深厚繪畫功力的大畫家之手,以張力十足、無以倫比的濃艷深透的青花紋飾,強烈地感染著愛好欣賞元青花的每一位藏家。
