Xianfeng money can be divided into three types: precious treasure, silver ingot and tongbao. when the value is 50 or less, it is called "Xianfeng precious treasure", while when the value is higher than 50, it is called "Xianfeng silver ingot", which is different from "Xianfeng tongbao" of xiaoping money. Xianfeng Heavy Treasure has "Dang Wu", "Shi", "20", "50" and "100" editions. Due to the small amount of Xianfeng money published, the contest is relatively rare.

According to relevant historical records, during the reign of Xianfeng in the Qing Dynasty (1851-1861), it was during the peasant uprising movement of the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom, which developed rapidly. The Tianping Heavenly Kingdom government quickly established its capital in Nanjing, Jiangsu. Therefore, Yunnan copper, which the Qing government relied on to make money at that time, could not be transported into Beijing due to the blocking of roads. The suppression of the uprising urgently required a large amount of military expenses. However, due to the blocking of roads, the raw materials for casting money were very scarce, which caused serious financial difficulties to the Qing government. Eventually, the Qing government was forced to issue bank notes and recast large amounts of money to make up for the financial deficit since Xianfeng's third year. Xianfeng Yuanbao became a hundred coins under such a big background.
