一是鑒別真贗。這是鑒賞的首要任務(wù)，一幅字面如果不能確定其真?zhèn)危渌峙聼o(wú)從談起。不過(guò)鑒定真?zhèn)问且豁?xiàng)十分困難和復(fù)雜的工作，它好比一所大學(xué)，進(jìn)去了，恐怕永遠(yuǎn)不會(huì)畢業(yè)。人家知道，從古到今，有名有姓的書畫家成千上萬(wàn)，就一個(gè)流派來(lái)講，少則也有數(shù)十人，多則上百乃至上千人；就一個(gè)畫家來(lái)說(shuō)，大多都要經(jīng)歷學(xué)習(xí)期、成熟期、顛峰期、衰退期，而每一個(gè)時(shí)期都有各自的特點(diǎn)，一般講，字畫風(fēng)格越鮮明，鑒定越容易，反之難度就越高，所以鑒別字畫真?zhèn)我彩且婚T很深?yuàn)W的學(xué)問(wèn)。

二是鑒別優(yōu)劣。一幅作品的好壞需要通過(guò)鑒賞來(lái)評(píng)定。中國(guó)古代對(duì)字畫優(yōu)劣有多種說(shuō)法，如謝赫就繪畫提出“六品”，即：氣韻生動(dòng)，骨法用筆、應(yīng)物象形、隨類賦彩、經(jīng)營(yíng)位置、傳統(tǒng)模寫。張彥遠(yuǎn)《歷代名畫記》列出“自然、神、妙、精、謹(jǐn)細(xì)”五等，朱景玄《唐朝名畫錄》提出了“神、妙、能、逸”四品，可謂仁者見仁、智者見智。以筆者看，字畫作品的優(yōu)劣，可以分為四類：即代表作、精品、一般作品、應(yīng)酬作品四類，其中代表作凝聚著畫家的一生心血、智慧、才能，有的代表作需要經(jīng)過(guò)數(shù)月乃至數(shù)年才能完成；精品也是畫家的用心之作，能體現(xiàn)畫家藝術(shù)風(fēng)格和創(chuàng)作水平；
