“皇宋通寶”之九疊篆在版別眾多的皇宋通寶錢幣中,有一種俗稱“皇宋九疊篆”的錢幣尤為珍貴。九疊篆又稱上方大篆,秦漢無此制,唐宋以來多用于官印上面。九疊篆是以小篆為基礎,筆畫反復折疊,盤旋屈曲,點畫皆有縱橫兩個方向,填滿空白部分,求得均勻。“曲屈平滿”是九疊篆書法最大的特點。折疊多寡,每一個字的折疊多少,則視筆畫繁簡而定,有五疊、六疊、七疊、八疊、九疊、十疊之分。稱之為九疊,“乃以九為數之終也,言其多也,”形容其折疊之多。九疊篆盛行于唐、宋、元、明,一直延續至今。將這種“九疊篆”用于錢文,在數千種古錢幣中,“皇宋通寶”僅為孤例,故被歷代收藏家視為稀世珍品。
