袁大頭是民國(guó)時(shí)期主要流通貨幣之一，“袁大頭”是對(duì)袁世凱像系列硬幣的口語俗稱，嚴(yán)謹(jǐn)點(diǎn)說叫“袁世凱像背嘉禾銀幣”。"袁大頭"在貨幣收藏界被稱為銀元之寶，是中國(guó)近千種近代銀幣中流傳最廣、影響最大的銀元品種，也是近代中國(guó)幣制變革中的一個(gè)重要角色。
Yuan Datou was one of the main circulating currencies in the Republic of China. “袁大頭”錢幣共有四種面值：壹圓、中圓(五角)、貳角、壹角，其中壹圓“袁大頭”最為常見。“袁大頭”首次的鑄造時(shí)間是民國(guó)三年，而且該幣被定為中華民國(guó)國(guó)幣，因此，它在我國(guó)的錢幣史上具有非常重要的地位。民國(guó)三年版正面為袁世凱側(cè)面像，上列“中華民國(guó)三年”。“年”字后沒有“造”字，其他年版都在“年”字后面有一“造”字。三年版“民”字中有一“點(diǎn)”，而其他年版民字無“點(diǎn)”。九年版中主要有袁像未封領(lǐng)版和大耳版兩種；前者為普通版，鑄量較多，后者鑄量較少。大耳版指袁像耳朵比其他版要大，而衣領(lǐng)全封領(lǐng)。錢幣的版面設(shè)計(jì)優(yōu)雅，而且存世量極為稀少，是收藏界精品，知名度極大的一種，具有無法估量的學(xué)術(shù)與歷史價(jià)值。
