廣東雙龍壽字幣分一兩、七錢二分、七錢二三種版別，其銀幣的鑄造，史料中沒有確切記載，也可能是關(guān)于其部分在歷史長(zhǎng)河中已丟失。因此泉家們歷來對(duì)于其具體鑄造情況有不同的解讀，而且至今沒有定論。在民國(guó)時(shí)期以張炯伯為首的諸多學(xué)者認(rèn)為：這種銀幣是光緒三十一年，也就是1905，為紀(jì)念慈禧太后七十壽辰而鑄造的。張炯伯在其《廣東省造壹兩銀幣》一文中稱：“惟本品因未紀(jì)年，殊難遽斷，然觀其圖案，諧作福壽，環(huán)繞雙龍，幕無英文，意含頌祝，大異常制。由此以推，成為紀(jì)念幣之一種，專鑄以祝慈禧太后六旬大壽者也。

該幣，幣正面珠圈外上端鐫“廣東省造”四字，下方為“庫平七錢二分”六字，左右兩側(cè)各鑄一蝙蝠圖案，珠圈內(nèi)鑄滿、漢文“光緒元寶”四字;背面珠圈外鑄有雙龍圖案，里面鑄有一圓形“壽”字。這枚廣東省造光緒元寶壽字雙龍幣版面設(shè)計(jì)優(yōu)雅，雕刻精良，銅幣表面包漿自然，可見歲月流通痕跡，至今仍保存完好，實(shí)為不易，具有無法估量的學(xué)術(shù)與歷史價(jià)值。
