光緒元寶是清朝光緒年間流通的貨幣之一。由湖北兩廣總督張之洞率先引進英國鑄幣機器鑄造銀元和銅元，之后各省紛紛仿效。共有十九個省局鑄造，除中央戶部，地方省所鑄銅元，皆在其正面上緣鐫寫省名。

北洋機器局更名北洋造幣局，鑄行較早脫離“兩單位”的銀幣后，又于光緒二十五年始，鑄行面值庫平紀重的“光緒元寶”，在這類幣的背面左側阿拉伯數字表示該幣為光緒X年版。北洋造33年光緒元寶庫平七錢二分因發行量少，市場稀缺，稀有珍貴。 北洋造光緒元寶是當時的造幣質量最高，也是最早的一批光緒元寶。之后才有的各大省份的元寶出現。清朝末年，朝野上下發生了銀元單位之爭，幣制未統一。又于光緒二十五年始，鑄行面值庫平紀重的“光緒元寶”，在這類幣的背面左側阿拉伯數字表示該幣為光緒哪年所造，北洋造光緒元寶發行量少，市場稀缺，如今存世的更少，近年來收藏錢幣市場火熱，所以此錢幣具有極高的收藏和投資價值！
