袁大頭是民國時期主要流通貨幣之一，"袁大頭"是對袁世凱像系列硬幣的口語俗稱，嚴(yán)謹(jǐn)點說叫"袁世凱像背嘉禾銀幣"。當(dāng)時袁像銀幣的鑄造量非常大，鑄造地有天津、南京、廣東、武昌等很多地方，所以產(chǎn)生了極細(xì)微區(qū)別的不同版式。甘肅版系甘肅蘭州造幣廠沿用民國三年版舊模，在袁像左右加鑄“甘肅”兩字，其余與開口貝版相同，鑄量僅數(shù)萬枚，如今經(jīng)歷戰(zhàn)亂、損壞、回收等導(dǎo)致存世量甚少。
Yuan Datou was one of the main circulating currencies in the Republic of China. 此件藏品為甘肅版民國三年袁大頭，錢幣正面鐫大總統(tǒng)袁世凱五分側(cè)面像，肖像上端環(huán)鐫發(fā)行年號“中華民國三年”，左右兩側(cè)鐫“甘肅”兩字。錢背正中鐫幣值“壹圓”二字，托以嘉禾二本，左右交互，下系結(jié)帶。此幣色澤光鮮自然，紋飾深淺適度，邊緣線條粗細(xì)均勻，間距也疏密一致。人像、發(fā)絲、胡須、穗芒等細(xì)微之處清晰有度，生動自然。是具有極高收藏價值的精品銀元。
This collection is of yuan Datou in the third year of the Republic of China in Gansu version. On the front of the coin is engraved with a five point profile of Yuan Shikai, the president of the Republic of China.
