The mechanism forging in the Qing Dynasty began in 1898 and ended in 1908. The forging has been in circulation for more than 10 years. At its peak, 19 provinces and 20 bureaus in the country started forging silver dollars. There were 19 provincial bureaus in the history of "Guangxu Yuanbao". In the 31st year of Guangxu (1905), the Qing government ordered the casting of "Guangxu silver ingot" to be stopped and "Qing copper coin" to be cast, and the central government unanimously promulgated the ancestral model. Many provincial and municipal departments have forged various kinds of dragon-carrying pictures in ten silver dollars, especially in the ten silver dollars of "Guangxu silver ingot", which is a suitable and outstanding sight. The late Qing Dynasty was a time when silver coins, paper money and copper coins were in parallel. New silver coins were not issued until Jiaqing and gold and silver coins were not widely cast until Guangxu. It is reported that Zhang Zhidong, governor of Guangdong and Guangxi, commissioned British ministers to order a complete set of coin making machines in Britain in the 13th year of Guangxu's reign, and made the first coins of silver and copper in the Guangdong Money Bureau. Since then, provinces have followed suit and purchased foreign machinery to cast silver and copper coins, and Guangxu Yuanbao came into being at this time.
As Guangxu silver ingot and Qing silver ingot in the late Qing dynasty both adopted various dragon shapes as their back patterns, and the dragon shapes varied, as descendants of the dragon, many copper yuan lovers preferred copper yuan in the late Qing dynasty to copper yuan with strong political implication patterns in the Republic of China.
