清康熙十七年（1678）三月初，吳三桂在湖南衡陽稱帝，國(guó)號(hào)大周，改元昭武，為維持人心，鑄“昭武通寶”。此錢仿明代錢幣舊制，其版式有小平和折十型。小平楷書錢較多，常光背，也有背“工”者；小平篆書則較少；折十是篆書大錢，背“壹分”，篆文古拙。但吳三桂在這年八月死了，故此幣流通時(shí)間不長(zhǎng)，流通領(lǐng)域不廣。“昭武通寶”是在湖南衡陽鑄造發(fā)行的唯一古錢幣及其惜少
