霽藍釉，又稱“積藍釉”“祭藍釉”“霽青釉”，明、清藍釉習稱“霽藍”，是一種添加了鈷礦料的高溫石灰堿釉，其生坯施釉，1280-1320℃高溫還原焰下一次燒成。其釉色濃淡勻凈，藍如深海，呈色穩定，釉面不流不裂，晶瑩透亮，光可鑒人，亮如寶石，有的微見橘皮紋。
用藍釉裝飾陶瓷，可以追溯到唐代的唐三彩和唐白釉藍彩，但那是低溫藍釉。到元朝，景德鎮陶工成功燒制出高溫鈷藍釉。在這之前，霽藍釉通常是作為瓷器繪畫的釉料，作為整體施釉的釉料是景德鎮元代陶工的首創，為顏色釉瓷器增添了新品種，也為明清景德鎮制瓷工藝的高度發展奠定了基礎。據文獻記載，當時霽藍器的廢品率較高。燒制時，窯溫要控制得當。溫度低了，釉色發黑，溫度稍高又會出現流釉。元代還有霽藍釉戧金、霽藍釉刻白龍（或花卉）紋、霽藍釉印花等裝飾手法
