宰豬開膛時，應檢查膽囊、膽管、肝管有無硬塊。如有硬塊，立即刮剝取出，剝除粘附著的內膜等物，再用干凈棉花、絨線包扎好，防止破裂散落，然后掛在陰涼處讓其自然干燥，不可風吹日曬，以免影響質量。豬寶又為豬膽囊中的結石，又稱豬黃，其藥用功效類似于牛黃，主要為清心、豁痰、開竅、涼肝、息風、解毒。是用于熱病神昏、中風痰迷，驚癇抽搐、癲癇發狂、咽喉腫痛治療的中藥。豬膽結石的形成時間長達1年以上，通常在肉豬體內很少，僅少量在年老淘汰母豬屠宰時在膽囊中尋找，生前如沒有B超等診斷儀器是不可發現的。
