玉墨是和田玉中的一種，呈灰黑-黑色。墨玉的顏色經常是不均勻的，黑色呈花斑、條帶狀分布。顏色越濃郁價值越高，墨如漆最為珍貴。
和田玉墨玉是一種較為稀有的資源，它的形成為一般和田玉形成時間的兩倍之多。是由于形成過程中受到了石墨的影響，經過漫長的宇宙射線的影響而形成的，所以時間越長，其墨色越濃。

分類
墨玉是分三種的:一種是白玉底的墨玉，就是第一種觀點，用強光照射玉底子變通透，白玉里面摻雜有大小不一的墨點;
另一種就是青玉底的墨玉
以上兩種墨玉都是因為白玉或青玉里面分布有細微的石墨鱗片造成的。料子黑的程度自然就是由墨點分布的疏密程度來決定。再者從密度上講，兩種墨玉的密度都分別小于相應的白玉和青玉的密度(因為碳的密度低)。
還有一種就是碧玉底的墨玉，因為用強光照射底子只是微微的透綠，大部分能見到分布不均的墨點，有的極品很難再看到墨點。它是由翠綠色經過漫長宇宙的時間，在宇宙射線的作用下慢慢至深變黑緩慢生長成的。所以時間越長它就越黑，但它在強光照射下，還是帶有墨綠色的本質。
現市場上多見蘇州大師的全黑墨玉牌，多是碧玉底墨玉所雕琢，因此料的特點是細度，潤度和黑度比較高.而白玉底墨玉常有白色帶，多用做俏色山水。青玉底墨玉多絮狀結構，細度不夠。
青海山料的青花料里面的墨色多為條帶狀，而和田籽料的青花料的墨色多為點霧狀分布的。

Moreover, in terms of density, the density of the two kinds of sapphire is smaller than that of the corresponding white jade and sapphire (because the density of carbon is low).
The other is the black jade on the Jasper base, because it is only slightly green when irradiating the base with strong light. Most of the ink spots can be seen with uneven distribution. Some of the best products are hard to see the ink spots again. It is from emerald green after a long time in the universe, in the role of cosmic rays slowly to dark slowly grow into. So the longer it is, the darker it will be, but it still has the essence of dark green under the strong light.
Now in the market, there are many Suzhou master's all black ink jade brands, which are mostly carved by the Jasper base. Therefore, the material is characterized by high fineness, moistening and blackness. The white jade base often has a white band, which is mostly used for beautiful landscapes. The sapphire has a flocculent structure with insufficient fineness.
The ink color of Qinghai mountain blue and white materials is mostly strip, while that of Hetian seed blue and white materials is mostly dot mist.

和田墨玉鑒別
坑瓦石玉是產自玉河之中的，其與墨玉較為相似，但是它在透射光下，一點不透光，而且與墨玉不同的是其沒有油性。
青海煙青玉，與新疆和田玉同產自昆侖山，煙青玉是青海玉中較為特殊的存在，其與墨一樣有著黑白兩種色調，但是青海煙青玉和新疆和田墨玉鑒別也不是很難，煙青玉的黑白兩色過渡自然，有過渡色，而這是和田墨玉沒有的。
此外，由于和田墨玉的顏色形成于石墨有關，所以在白玉底上可見一些星點的墨色。墨玉與其他有色于是一樣，顏色越濃郁價值越高，墨如漆最為珍貴。當然墨玉雖然是以墨色濃郁為貴，但是 其邊緣最好能透光，不然極易被看做黑色石頭。在墨玉中還有一種黑白分明的青花料也極其受到坊間的喜愛，作為俏色玉雕的玉材。

Identification of Hetian Moyu
Kengwa stone jade is produced in Yuhe, which is similar to Mo jade, but it is a little opaque under the transmitted light, and different from Mo jade, it has no oil.
Yanqing jade in Qinghai is produced in Kunlun mountain together with Hetian jade in Xinjiang. Yanqing jade is a special one in Qinghai jade. It has black and white colors like ink. However, it is not difficult to distinguish between Yanqing jade in Qinghai and Hetian jade in Xinjiang. The black and white colors of Yanqing jade have a natural transition and a transition color, which is not found in Hetian jade.
