[Name] Wood fossil
[Specification] Weight: 16.3kg
[Category] Miscellaneous
NO.[JH268]
Wood fossils, also known as silicified wood, are geological changes in the geological history of the trees, and finally buried in the stratum, undergoing chemical exchange and filling of groundwater, so that these chemicals are crystallized in the woody part of the trees, retaining the original structure of the trees. Down, so it is formed into wood fossils.
After the trees are buried in the mud, the groundwater solution rich in siliceous components dissolves the wood components of the trees, and deposits the siliceous components carried by them in the dissolved pores to replace the substances.
The original ingredients of the trees have disappeared, and all are replaced by stone containing silicon and calcium. Afterwards, after compaction, consolidation, and diagenesis, the original trees were completely turned into hard stone fossils.
The wood fossil is yellowish brown, and it can be clearly seen that the wooden structure and texture have a jade texture, and the degree of jade is about 30%. The conditions for the preservation of trees as fossils are extremely harsh. The prerequisite is that the trunk is isolated from the air, the wood is not easily rotted, and is replaced by the exchange of silicon-silicate materials during the long geological process. The replacement process preserves the fibrous structure of the wood and the shape of the trunk. To make trees into fossils. Therefore, the probability of trees becoming fossils is very small.
Tree fossils not only display their own colorful features, but also record and witness geological changes and species derivation, providing valuable clues for people to study ancient plants and paleontological history as well as ancient geological and climate change.
