劍，是一種兵器。開雙刃身直頭尖，橫豎可傷人，擊刺可透甲。兇險異常，生而為殺。（武經）————劍，兩邊都開了刃，有著筆直的劍身和尖銳的劍尖。舞動時向正反兩邊施展都具有殺傷力，用劍尖攻擊可以輕易穿透甲衣。是非常危險的武器，常使人險像叢生。是一種單純為了殺人而存在的兵器。
劍，古代兵器之一，屬于“短兵”。乃是兵中王者，被稱為“百兵之君”。古王皆有君子之氣，亦有皇上君臨天下之說，素有“百兵之君”的美稱。古代的劍由金屬制成，長條形，前端尖，后端安有短柄，兩邊有刃。現在作為擊劍運動用的劍，劍身為細長的鋼條，頂端為一小圓球，無刃。
劍，早期是匕首式短劍，劍和刀一類，區別只在于單刃和雙刃。劍又稱：“輕呂”、“徑路”，“長鋏”。春秋末年，開始流行長劍。質地精良的寶劍大多出自南方，主要是吳、越（閩越）、楚、巴蜀。長劍出，短劍也不廢。劍的歷史是源遠流長的。
自古以來，寶劍都是吉祥之物，只有皇宮大殿、貴族王府擺放；寶劍更是尊貴身份的彰顯，只有帝王將相、達官貴人佩戴；時至今日，寶劍成為藝術品收藏領域的翹楚，收藏升值，只漲不跌；寶劍也是禮尚往來的首選之物，選擇一柄寶劍贈送給自己的恩師、伯樂、領導、合作伙伴、親朋好友，是一份喜出望外的珍貴禮物。
傳說春秋時期吳國有一對名叫干將、莫邪的夫婦會造寶劍，名揚天下。吳王闔廬讓他們為自己造一把寶劍。他們找來最好的材料，可在冶煉時遇到許多意想不到的困難，一次次都失敗了。
干將知道，如果不能按時交出寶劍，就會被吳王處死，非常著急。莫邪聽說，要造出神妙的東西，必須作出重大的犧牲，為了使自己的丈夫免遭殺害，她毅然跳進熊熊的爐火之中，用自己的血來祭劍。兩把光芒四射、鋒利無比的寶劍終于造出來了。干將為紀念妻子，將兩把寶劍命名為“干將”、“莫邪”，這就是有名的“雌雄劍”。干將知道吳王是個兇殘暴戾的人，自己去獻劍一定不會活著回來，就把雌劍留給兒子，只把雄劍獻給吳王。
該寶貝長20厘米，包漿厚重，做工古樸細膩傳神，雌雄一對，雕刻精美，圖案栩栩如生，一分為二，具體品相如圖，藏品由藏家家傳之寶，保存很好，銅銹自然，是件不可多得的寶貝，可遇不可求，難得一見，值得收藏。
