真正意義上的黃釉瓷器創(chuàng)燒于明洪武時(shí)期，近年來在景德鎮(zhèn)窯址和南京明故宮遺址中皆出土洪武黃釉暗刻云龍紋盤碗的標(biāo)本，其制作是在瓷質(zhì)澀胎上施以適量的鐵為著色劑的黃釉，置于850度左右的窯里以氧化焰二次燒成，色澤與同時(shí)期的黃釉琉璃建筑構(gòu)件相同，由于是在澀胎施釉，故而稍覺粗糙，未有后世嬌黃釉之嬌嫩圓潤。明宣德時(shí)期御器廠上承洪武技術(shù)而竭力改進(jìn)，重點(diǎn)改善施釉的質(zhì)地，變?yōu)樵谔鸢子悦嫔鲜┯裕蕴鸢子灾儍粲骋r黃釉之妍麗遂得“宣黃”一項(xiàng)名品問世，開啟弘治嬌黃釉之先聲。其色清亮勻凈，透明度高，玻璃質(zhì)感強(qiáng)，深為內(nèi)府所珍，更因其時(shí)技術(shù)初創(chuàng)，尚不穩(wěn)定成熟，成造數(shù)量本來不多，流傳至今更是鳳毛麟角，彰顯出宣德黃釉器皿的尊貴和無比稀缺。
The real yellow glaze porcelain was made in Hongwu Period of Ming Dynasty. The purity of the sweet white glaze reflected the beauty of the yellow glaze, so it became a famous product of xuanhuang, which opened the voice of Hongzhi delicate yellow glaze. Its color is clear and even, its transparency is high, its glass texture is strong, and it is deeply treasured by the inner government. Because of its technology start-up, it is not stable and mature, and the number of finished products is not much, which is still rare, showing the dignity and incomparable scarcity of Xuande yellow glaze vessels.
宣德黃釉瓷傳世器型有葫蘆瓶、罐、高足碗、盤、杯子、碟等，以罐、碗最為典型，其中又以青花龍紋飾的黃釉罐最為精致。黃釉器多數(shù)釉色較深，釉面鮮亮肥潤，色澤濃淡不勻，釉面不平，濃處有兔絲痕析出，淺處則泛灰白色調(diào)。另有水平極佳之作，黃釉呈色極淡，釉面極為勻潤。宣德黃釉瓷多光素?zé)o紋飾，極少見到有黃釉刻劃紋飾的器物。刻劃的紋飾有鶴、鳳、纏枝花卉、蕉葉、云龍紋飾等。黃釉器底或青花雙圈或暗刻“大明宣德年制”兩行楷款。
