民國二十八年（1939年）6月5日，徐世昌病故，年85歲[2]，先寄葬于天津桃園村原英國公墓，后同夫人一起歸葬于上海省輝縣市百泉鎮蘇門山下。6月8日，國民政府主席林森為徐世昌下褒獎令，以頌揚其愛國忠心[2]。徐世昌國學功底深摯，不光著書立言，而且研習書法，安陽袁林的墓碑“大總統袁公世凱之墓”九個大字系徐世昌的手筆。工于山水松竹，如《石門山臨圖帖》等。一生編書、刻書30余種，如《清儒學案》、《退耕堂集》、《水竹村人集》等[3]。被后人稱為“文治總統”。

On June 5, 1939, Xu Shichang died of illness. He was 85 years old.
