袁大頭是民國時期主要流通貨幣之一，簽字版袁大頭一類是意大利制版人的英文簽字版，另一類是袁世凱的左側面像后頸部位的簽字版。
“袁大頭”銀幣的正面圖案，中間為袁世凱戎裝左側面像，民國三年版的上方為“中華民國三年”，民國八、九、十年版的為“中華民國X年造”；
背面圖案均是兩株交叉的稻穗，中央為“壹圓”、“中圓”（伍角）、“貳角”、“壹角”字樣，后幾種上方分別有“每二枚當一圓”、“每伍枚當一圓”和“每十枚當一圓”的字樣；
正面鐫袁世凱側面頭像及發行年號，背面鑄嘉禾紋飾與幣值，袁大頭的官版的成色為89.1%；該幣的外環主要是直齒邊，另外，還鑄有少量工字邊和花齒邊。在該系列幣中，民國三年、九年、十年等一元幣較為常見，民國八年的則較少些。
但是，在民國三年的“袁大頭”中，袁世凱“簽字版”則出類拔萃地被收藏愛好者所鐘愛。一類是民國三年天津造幣廠試鑄的意大利制版人的英文簽字版；另一類是袁世凱的左側面像后頸部位的簽字版（大寫英文L·GIORGI）此錢幣非常少見，所以收藏價值極高
Yuan Datou was one of the main currency in circulation in the Republic of China. One type of signature version was the English version of the Italian plate maker, the other was the signature version of the left side of Yuan Shikai's neck. However, Yuan Shikai's "signature edition" in the "Yuan Datou" in the three years of the Republic of China is outstanding and loved by collectors. One is the English Signature Edition of the Italian plate maker, which was trial-produced in Tianjin Mint in the three years of the Republic of China; the other is the signature edition of Yuan Shikai's left side portrait of the back neck (capital English L. GIORGI), which is very rare, so it has a very high collection value.
