馬超（176年—222年），字孟起，扶風茂陵（今陜西興平縣）人。東漢末年軍閥、三國時期蜀漢名將，伏波將軍馬援之后，衛尉馬騰長子。少年成名，健勇善戰，多次拒絕曹操征召。跟隨司隸校尉鐘繇攻打并州，拜為諫議大夫。馬騰入朝成為衛尉后，拜為偏將軍、都亭侯，接管馬騰軍隊。建安十六年（211年），聯合韓遂一同抵抗曹操，參加潼關之戰，為曹操離間計所敗。攻打隴上諸郡失敗，依附漢中太守張魯。劉備攻打劉璋時，率眾投降，合兵包圍成都。參加漢中之戰，上表尊封劉備為漢中王，遷左將軍。蜀漢建立后，拜為驃騎將軍、涼州牧，封為斄鄉侯。
