馬超(176年—222年),字孟起,扶風茂陵(今陜西興平縣)人。東漢末年軍閥、三國時期蜀漢名將,伏波將軍馬援之后,衛尉馬騰長子。少年成名,健勇善戰,多次拒絕曹操征召。跟隨司隸校尉鐘繇攻打并州,拜為諫議大夫。馬騰入朝成為衛尉后,拜為偏將軍、都亭侯,接管馬騰軍隊。建安十六年(211年),聯合韓遂一同抵抗曹操,參加潼關之戰,為曹操離間計所敗。攻打隴上諸郡失敗,依附漢中太守張魯。劉備攻打劉璋時,率眾投降,合兵包圍成都。參加漢中之戰,上表尊封劉備為漢中王,遷左將軍。蜀漢建立后,拜為驃騎將軍、涼州牧,封為斄鄉侯。
