辛亥革命以后,袁世凱就任“臨時(shí)大總統(tǒng)”之職,后又成為正式大總統(tǒng)。在此間,民國政府以袁世凱側(cè)身頭像為幣面發(fā)行了許多銀幣后人稱作“袁大頭”。同時(shí)還發(fā)行有以袁像為幣面的紀(jì)念幣。其中,“中華民國共和國紀(jì)念幣”是非常珍稀的一種紀(jì)念幣。

此枚中華民國共和紀(jì)念幣,銀幣正面為袁世凱九分臉正面及胸像,面部稍左側(cè),袁身著大元帥服,頭戴鷺羽冠,胸前佩戴大勛章。幣邊道齒用小珠和細(xì)齒間隔組成。地章平整,由于含銀量高,地章光亮,泛著銀光。
