古錢幣極具觀賞性與歷史價(jià)值，因此古錢幣如同其他古玩一樣被藏家們所青睞。中國最早的機(jī)制洋式銀元為光緒年間的“光緒元寶”，俗稱“龍洋”，因銀元背面一般鑄有龍紋而得名。珍稀古錢幣是貨幣歷史的實(shí)物，由于早已不在流通領(lǐng)域，留存下來的亦少之極少，更是歷史的見證。

光緒元寶，清朝光緒年間流通的貨幣之一。由兩廣總督張之洞率先引進(jìn)英國鑄幣機(jī)器鑄造銀元和銅元，之后各省紛紛仿效。共有十九個省局鑄造，除中央戶部，地方省所鑄銅元，皆在其正面上緣鐫寫省名。光緒元寶是大清光緒年流通大面值貨幣之首，是我國首批引進(jìn)海外技術(shù)的印發(fā)流通貨幣，對于現(xiàn)今也蘊(yùn)藏了一定歷史意義。

此枚湖北省造光緒元寶庫平七錢二分，直徑2.79cm，尺寸規(guī)范，大小合適，錢幣雖經(jīng)歷了無窮歲月的洗禮和歷史的沉淀，但如今依然保存較為完好;它在燈光下散發(fā)出一種淡淡的銀光，仿佛帶著一股王者的貴氣，高貴而優(yōu)雅。錢幣正面珠圈內(nèi)鐫滿漢文“光緒元寶”字樣，珠圈外上環(huán)鑄“湖北省造”四字，底部鑄貨幣價(jià)值：“庫平七錢二分”，左右兩側(cè)飾有小花。錢幣背面上下環(huán)英文，左右各飾小花，中心為蟠龍圖，龍爪張揚(yáng)，龍鱗清晰，龍紋深峻，龍眼凸起，威武霸氣，神武有力，十分精美。觀之，猶如一幅神龍翱翔天際的油畫，極其瑰麗，美的動人心魄，扣人心弦。
