周顥同學(xué)畫，同刻竹，但各得其意，各不相襲。清人評其作品“生意遠出，神氣內(nèi)涵，萬點當(dāng)虛，千層疊起，渾厚中自露秀色”。周笠晚年客居揚州，六十歲而病卒，今傳世作品較少。

一、[清]字牧山，顥（一六七五至一七六三）侄，輿顥名相埒，人目為槎南二周。畫山水師元四家，而得力在用乾筆皴。少師黃鼎（一六六o至一七三o），鼎謂之曰：“婁東虞山一派屬于子矣。”兼作水墨花卉，生趣盎然。笠少于顥十余歲，少同學(xué)畫，同刻竹，各得其意，各不相襲。生意遠出，神氣內(nèi)涵，萬點當(dāng)虛，千里疊起，渾厚中自露秀色，令人一見嘆絕者，笠之所長。各體俱備，蒼雄健深，微露亂頭粗服之致，顥之所長。刻竹、作畫兩盡之矣。尹文端聞其名，命舟濼江，繪長江萬里圖進呈。又嘗為朱娛村寫彈指閣圖。清疎簡貴，題者殆滿。乾隆二十六年（一七六一）作讀書秋樹根圖，載清十二家山水集。晚寓揚州馬氏（曰琯）小玲瓏山館幾十年。故手跡流傳里中絕少。年才六十，病噎卒。《墨林今話、墨香居畫識、嘉定三藝人傳、竹人錄》。

二、[清]字元贊，號云巖，又號韻闊外史，乾、嘉（一七三六至一八二o）時吳縣（今江蘇蘇州）人。能詩、畫，初工寫真，中歲棄去，專門花卉、山水，均摹沈周。山水淡遠秀韻，花卉賦色妍雅，所作百花橫卷，凡有數(shù)本傳于代。韻妍法備。為鄒一桂之亞。其自寫韻蘭草堂圖，題者數(shù)百人，尤為時所稱。間作士女，亦盡態(tài)極妍。《墨香居畫識、桐陰論畫、墨林今話、清朝書畫家筆錄、清代畫史補錄》。
