光緒元寶是大清光緒年流通大面值貨幣之首，是我國首批引進海外技術的印發流通貨幣，對于現今也蘊藏了一定歷史意義。北洋造光緒元寶北洋龍洋在中國近代機器鑄幣史上屬一個大系列，其鑄期歷時甚長（從光緒22年—光緒34年[1896至1908年]），歷經十余載，幣模幾經更替，即使同一鑄造年份亦往往由于修模、幣材、工藝技術、工廠管理等諸多因素，造成版別異常繁雜。

江南省造光緒元寶系指清代光緒二十三年到三十一年（1897-1905年）由南京造幣廠鑄造的機制“光緒元寶”系列錢幣，系清代正式鑄行的法定流通貨幣。但鑄造江南省造錢幣的清末，已無江南省建制。江南省設于清朝順治二年（1645年），省府位于江寧（今南京）。
Guangxu Yuanbao in Jiangnan Province refers to the mechanism "Guangxu Yuanbao" series coins minted by Nanjing Mint from 23 to 31 years of Guangxu in Qing Dynasty (1897-1905). 光緒元寶江南省造。錢幣正面珠圈內鑄滿漢文“光緒元寶”字樣，上環“江南省造”，左右銘“乙巳”，下環鑄“每元當制錢十文”，字體俊秀。錢幣背面珠圈內為蟠龍圖，左右各一五點花星，珠圈外為英文，眼神靈異炯炯有神，龍鱗雕刻細密有致，騰云駕霧，身姿遒勁有力。
