此藏品霽藍釉又稱“積藍釉”、“祭藍釉”、“霽青釉”。明、清藍釉習稱“霽藍”，一種高溫石灰堿釉。其生坯施釉，1280～1300℃高溫下一次燒成。

色澤深沉，釉面不流不裂，色調濃淡均勻，呈色較穩定，器形精致鼓腹，外藍內白，看上去很清秀淡雅，口檐內卷底部留釉，底部下陷施釉肥厚，器身內補，棕眼露胎，底足有螺旋狀的修胎痕，顏色溫潤無賊光，外壁由器肩開始逐漸向底部收攏，線條流暢。其釉色藍如深海，釉面勻凈，呈色穩定，后人稱其為“霽青”，又因其呈色穩定明亮如寶石，推為宣德顏色釉瓷器的三大“上品”，具有非常高的收藏價值。

成化、弘治、正德時期，霽藍釉瓷器傳世不多，尤其是成化時期，至今未見一件完整器，但景德鎮御廠出土過書有成化款的藍釉碎片，說明其生產從未間斷。

嘉靖藍釉瓷器較為盛行，一是造型品種豐富多彩，二是釉色品種有新發展。造型除傳統的宮廷祭器、陳設瓷外，日用器皿中也常見藍釉產品。釉色除霽藍外，又新創一種“回青”釉。嘉靖霽藍釉色藍中微泛紫色，有些釉面開細小紋片，個別的有棕色斑點，圈足處施一層醬色釉。嘉靖回青釉多刻暗款，均為六字楷書款，造型有罐、洗、碗、盤、杯、渣斗、香鏟等。有些尚淺刻龍鳳、云龍及纏枝花紋。這些器物主要藏于臺北和北京的故宮博物院中，均是宮中舊藏。
