此枚藏品為“貴州銀幣”，正面中央為“貴州銀幣”上銘“中華民國十七年”，下銘“一圓”：背面中央為草地、汽車圖案，上銘“貴州省政府造”，下銘記重“七錢二分”，是民國十七年(1928年)貴州造幣廠為紀念貴陽-桐梓公路通車而制造的，草地內(nèi)含當時省政府主席周西成的“西成”2字。市場價值很高，市場上仿品泛濫。它的汽車圖案是貴州的第一輛汽車，是周西成從香港購來的美國福特牌敞篷汽車。由于貴州沒有公路，這輛汽車是拆散后，人挑馬馱運入的。銀幣上的汽車圖案即以此車為原形。用汽車作銀幣圖案，是近代銀幣中絕無僅有的，它與光緒龍、大清龍以及以人物為圖案的近代銀幣相比，確是獨出新裁而很受時人喜歡。使用了兩種貨幣單位。即采用貨幣“元”單位，又使用已經(jīng)廢止了的清末貨幣單位“七錢二分”，這在民國銀幣中也是僅見的現(xiàn)象。這種不倫不類也反映了周西成雖頗有進取心，但其封建烙印依然十分深刻。

貴州是典型的山區(qū)，“八山一水一分田”是最突出的省情，自古以來以交通不便聞名。貴州的公路建設(shè)始于20世紀20年代。1923年，省政府設(shè)立交通籌備處，擬建公路，直到1926年，周西成任省主席時，才把修建公路（當時稱馬路）提到議事日程，正式建立路政局，并在當年8月3日動工修建省會貴陽的環(huán)城馬路，作為全省筑路的示范。1927年，周西城派人到香港購得一輛美國產(chǎn)福特牌轎車。這是貴州的第一輛汽車。1928年，貴州省政府鑄造銀幣，把周西城的汽車圖鑄在銀元上，想不到竟成為貴州汽車運輸?shù)募o念品，成為收藏愛好者喜愛之物。貴州銀幣曾經(jīng)也流通過一段時間，因此留下來的錢幣中大部分均是流通品，品相較差，作為未流通的試鑄幣才得以完美保存下來。此幣由貴州省長周西成制造，他在當時剛完成了一條貫穿貴州省的重要公路的建設(shè)。正如在《世界錢幣新聞》上刊登的文章所指出的那樣，建設(shè)這條公路部分原因是為瞭解決當時的饑荒問題，為建公路而籌措的資金中一部分款項也是來源于國際饑饉救濟總署。當時負責該專案的是一位美國人O.J.Todd，他寫了一本有關(guān)他當時工作的書籍，里面就有周西成和他的汽車的照片。

汽車銀幣因偷工減重、銀含量不足，在講究錢飽貨足的當時，流通困難。它的流通，依賴政權(quán)力量強力推行。當時更多作為軍餉，由軍人借助于武力去購物進入民間。進入民間后，也難以在民間流通，又以稅費等形式流回官方，再由軍人、官員購物進入民間。汽車銀幣鑄造后僅一年左右，周西成就死去了。政權(quán)因此更迭，汽車銀幣流通失去可依賴的政權(quán)力量。汽車銀幣流通時間過短，流通范圍很窄，留存自然不多。后來，該銀幣多被持有者兌換給有關(guān)部門銷毀，或以自行鑄造銀器等方式銷毀。即使因種種原因當時未被銷毀的，也在隨后的政治運動及收繳中被銷毀，使其存量日益稀少，成為珍品。
