蘇維埃版的袁大頭來(lái)源于民國(guó)20年。當(dāng)時(shí)國(guó)民黨反動(dòng)派對(duì)蘇區(qū)進(jìn)行軍事圍剿和經(jīng)濟(jì)封鎖，紅色政權(quán)對(duì)敵斗爭(zhēng)環(huán)境十分惡劣，為了適應(yīng)對(duì)敵斗爭(zhēng)形勢(shì)的需要，紅軍便在從打土豪繳獲來(lái)的民國(guó)三年袁大頭舊銀元打上了“蘇維埃”的戳記，以示區(qū)別，用來(lái)發(fā)展革命根據(jù)地經(jīng)濟(jì)，保障紅軍供給和紅色政權(quán)建設(shè)。這種“蘇維埃袁大頭”在發(fā)展革命根據(jù)地和紅色政權(quán)建設(shè)方面發(fā)揮了重要作用。后來(lái)國(guó)民黨還曾將不少蓋有“蘇維埃”的銀元回爐重鑄，因此蓋有“蘇維埃”戳的袁大頭并不多見(jiàn)，且具有非同一般的收藏價(jià)值。

此枚蘇維埃版民國(guó)三年袁大頭壹圓重26.7克，直徑3.96厘米，銀質(zhì)純正，包漿老道。銀元正面鑄有袁世凱的側(cè)面像，頭發(fā)、胡子和肩上徽標(biāo)凹凸感強(qiáng)烈，栩栩如生，右下角有“蘇維埃”簽字，上環(huán)鑄有 “中華民國(guó)三年”。背面中鑄“壹圓”二字正楷體，左右分別以嘉禾添飾，左右交互，下系結(jié)帶，立體感強(qiáng)。此銀元保存完好，品相精美，帶有濃厚的政治色彩，至今存世量極為罕見(jiàn)，彌足珍貴。袁大頭銀幣一直是中國(guó)近代幣制改革中的一個(gè)重要幣種，也是目前收藏領(lǐng)域中熱度大的一個(gè)銀元品種，被人們奉為“銀元之寶”。蘇維埃版袁大頭更為珍稀，比原版的袁大頭更具有收藏價(jià)值。
