Recommendation of "Longevity Silver Cake" in 2019
In the mid-Ming Dynasty, the East and the West began to trade in the coastal areas, which had a great impact on the culture of that time. And foreign silver dollars flowed into China. In the early Qing Dynasty, with the gradual development of trade between the East and the West, the amount of foreign silver dollars flowing into China increased accordingly, and the usage area expanded constantly. Under the influence of foreign silver dollar, the southeastern coastal provinces of China took the lead in the emergence of silver coins modeled on foreign silver dollar. Because they are all made by artificial soil method, and the production process is rough, like a cake, so they are called "silver cake".
Taiwan was the first province to make silver cakes. During the Daoguang Period of the Qing Dynasty, Taiwan cast a silver cake with longevity as a positive pattern, commonly known as "longevity silver cake", which was the earliest of all kinds of silver cakes, very few survived, and very worthy of collection.
