奉天省造幣廠是目前我國歷史最悠久的造幣廠，主要生產(chǎn)流通銀幣、金銀紀念幣等。1896年(光緒二十二年)，請政府根據(jù)盛京將軍依克唐阿的奏請，批準設立并籌建奉天機器局以鑄造機制銀幣，同年依克唐阿在今沈陽東關外、大東邊門內，開工興建了“奉天機器局”，于次年建成。創(chuàng)建之初，從天津的德國禮和洋行購進德國、美國制造的機器、鍋爐，以蒸汽機為動力，亦有部分手工操作。1898年(光緒二十四年)，奉天機器局開始制作一元、五角、二角、一角及半角的銀幣，同時在城鄉(xiāng)市面上流通。該幣以其生產(chǎn)工藝先進、成色固定、形制統(tǒng)一、重量一致、便于攜帶和計算簡便等優(yōu)點，一經(jīng)問世，深受社會歡迎。
Feng tian Mint is the oldest mint in our country at present. In the same year, Iktangga started construction of the "Mukden Machine Bureau" outside the present Shenyang East Pass and inside the Great East Border Gate, which was completed the following year. At the beginning of its establishment, it purchased machines and boilers made in Germany and the United States from the German Ritz and foreign firms in Tianjin, powered by steam engines and partly operated manually. In 1898 (the 24th year of Guangxu's reign), the Mukden Bureau of Machinery began to make silver coins of one dollar, five cents, two cents, one and a half cents, which were also in circulation in urban and rural markets. 1900年(光緒二十六年)，奉天機器局擴建略具規(guī)模，機鑄當十帶孔的銅元。5月，義和團興起，時事不穩(wěn)。10月，沙俄軍攻陷省城奉天，奉天機器局被俄軍強占、破壞。1902年3月(光緒二十八年)，經(jīng)盛京將軍增祺向俄方交涉，方將機器局交還奉天當局，奉天機器局的造幣廠從機器局分離并更名為奉天銀元局。對殘損機器重新修復，于1903年7月恢復生產(chǎn)，鑄造了以“兩”為單位的“奉天省癸卯光緒元寶庫平銀一兩”和“奉天省造癸卯光緒元寶庫平七錢二分”兩種銀幣。

The mint of the Mukden machinery bureau was separated from the machinery bureau and renamed the Mukden silver dollar bureau. The damaged machine was restored and production resumed in July 1903. Two silver coins, namely "feng tian Guimao Guangxu Yuanbao Kuping Silver One Two" and "feng tian Made Guimao Guangxu Yuanbao Kuping Seven Two Cents", were cast in units of "two".
這枚銀幣便系光緒二十九年(1903年)奉天銀元局鑄造的“奉天省造光緒元寶庫平銀一兩銀幣。該幣正面上鐫“奉天省造”四字，中間鐫“光緒元寶”四字，左右鐫“癸卯”二字，下面鐫“庫平銀一兩”五字，正中為滿文“光緒元寶”字樣。該幣背面內圈鐫龍圖，外圈鐫英文，兩旁鐫小花飾。此幣字體俊秀、深淺適度。蟠龍圖案威武大氣，刻畫精美，因時代久遠，留下了自然的包漿痕跡，但并不影響清晰地辨認出其文字、紋飾等，不失為銀幣中的收藏佳選。
