咸豐元寶種類種類較多，是在清文宗（1831-1861）年間清政府面臨內(nèi)憂外患，太平天國起義和列強(qiáng)侵略導(dǎo)致朝廷財(cái)政困難，軍費(fèi)等其他開支入不敷出時(shí)鑄造興起。但在鑄造中期官員發(fā)生爭論，所以咸豐元寶發(fā)行量并不多！且由于其鑄造精美，當(dāng)為中國古錢幣的一朵奇葩，被泉學(xué)名家孫仲匯先生譽(yù)為“清錢之王”，對研究當(dāng)時(shí)的社會歷史文化及經(jīng)濟(jì)發(fā)展具有非常特殊的意義，也極富美學(xué)欣賞價(jià)值。

這枚寶泉局“咸豐元寶”當(dāng)百銅質(zhì)精黃,錢面文字雕工精湛、字口深峻,如斧削刀切,錢文舒暢,富有神韻,該錢錢文字體深峻，結(jié)構(gòu)端莊規(guī)整，鑄造精美絕倫，該錢的錢文筆畫，點(diǎn)劃撇捺分明，錢文線條有粗有細(xì)，粗若含雷霆萬鈞之力，細(xì)則如蛟龍游絲相連，從錢文中透露出一股抑揚(yáng)頓挫的剛毅之勁，令人嘆為觀止。此幣十分精美，品相包漿相當(dāng)完好，銅材優(yōu)良，沒一絲一毫拖泥帶水。
