早在明朝中期，西班牙就已在墨西哥制造“本洋”銀幣(俗稱“雙柱”)，至清代乾隆、嘉慶年間，中國對外貿易日趨繁榮，從外國流入中國的銀幣種類也日漸增多。至清朝末年，除“雙柱”外，還有墨西哥“鷹洋”、英國“站洋”、印度支那“坐洋”、日本“龍洋”和德國威廉一世紀念銀幣等品種，其中英國“站洋”以制作精良、圖案美觀而著稱于世。
As early as the mid-Ming Dynasty, Spain had manufactured "native" silver coins (commonly known as "double pillars") in Mexico. During the reign of Qianlong and Jiaqing in the Qing Dynasty, China's foreign trade was flourishing and the types of silver coins flowing into China from foreign countries were increasing. By the end of the Qing Dynasty, in addition to the "double pillars", there were Mexico's "Eagle Ocean", Britain's "Station Ocean", Indochina's "Ocean-sitting", Japan's "Dragon Ocean" and German William's "Silver Money" in the first century, among which Britain's "Station Ocean" was famous for its excellent production and beautiful design.

此幣正面中央是一持戟、盾的不列顛女神，站立岸頭，傲視世界。左手持米字盾牌，右手執三叉戟，意為能攻能守，戰無不勝。珠圈下左右兩側分列英文ONE-DOLLAR(壹圓)，下方記載年號為1901。背面中央有中文篆體“壽”字，上下為中文行體“壹圓”，左右為馬來文“壹圓”。珠圈外亦鑄有回紋，從錢幣上可清晰看到中西文化的交融，帶著鮮明的歷史印記，獨具歷史意義。錢幣錢文清晰，紋飾細膩，線條流暢，曲線優雅，筆法細致。整體制作精美，圖案考究，文字清秀，內容豐富，收藏價值極佳。
