袁世凱銀元又名袁大頭，是袁世凱就任大總統后，為了鞏固政局、發展經濟、決定在全國統一幣制時發行的貨幣，在天津造幣總廠和武昌、廣州、南京等分廠按規格、重量等鑄造袁世凱頭像銀幣，俗稱袁大頭。銀幣的正面圖案，中間為袁世凱（均為光頭）戎裝左側面像，上方為“中華民國×年”；背面圖案均是兩株交叉的稻穗，中央為“壹圓”、“中圓”（伍角）、“貳角”、“壹角”字樣。這種銀元在抗戰前曾廣泛流通，此后也長期存在，是近代中國幣制變革中的一個重要角色。
