眾所周知，秦始皇一統六國，開創了中國統一的新紀元，雖說在位時間并不長久，并且有史料記載秦始皇在位期間極為殘暴，經常展開大屠殺之類的！但是有一點不可否認的，就是秦始皇的治世之才！秦始皇開創了很多歷史，為往后的封建社會發展提供了很多的借鑒經驗，因此，十分多人崇拜這個千古大帝，認為他是一個不可多得的人才！但大家不知道的是，在古錢幣這方面，秦始皇也有他的獨特貢獻！秦國統一之后，為了避免不同國家統治遺留下來的雜亂無章的問題，更好的統一全中國，對于文字、車軌、度量衡與幣制都有了統一！秦國地處西北地區，秦始皇因此非常注重邊陲地區的經濟貿易往來，尤其是與西亞、中亞這些國家的貿易往來，為了方便商人們進行交易，秦朝便下令進行了鑄幣！由此，便出現了秦半兩！秦半兩的“半兩”二字，書體的特點是結體統一、篆法圓摶，筆畫平直而勻稱，書寫比古文要簡便得多。這在書法發展史上、在漢字規范化上，無疑是很大的進步。

文中此“秦半兩”銅幣以“圓形方孔”為貨幣造型，方孔代表地方，外圓代表天圓，“圓形方孔”即象征著古代天圓地方的宇宙觀。青銅幣上的“半兩”二字為篆書文字，是由秦國著名的李斯所題寫；它表示每枚重為當時的半兩（即十二銖），故稱“半兩錢”。
