藏品簡介：如意是一種象征吉祥的器物，自古就得到了文人雅士的喜好。直至今日，一些集藏古玩小品的藏家，仍對其情有獨鐘。追究緣由，簡單地說，一是如意制作很講究，不失為一件藝術品；二是如意雖小但卻處處能讓人如意，自然要圖個吉利。緣于搔杖。如意，古人撓癢的搔杖。背癢，手不可及，以搔杖撓之，可如人意，故謂。迄今發現制作年代最早的如意，與今天的“癢癢撓”無異。出土于山東曲阜魯國故城遺址的牙雕搔杖，殘長約40厘米，直柄，飾有三角云紋，杖首是一屈指作抓癢狀的手掌，上飾卷云紋，柄端雕一獸頭。“如意”之名，初見于公元370年晉人王嘉撰述的《拾遺記》。該書涉及如意的文字有兩段：吳主孫權見潘夫人畫像，“喜而以虎魄如意撫之”；孫權之子孫和，“月下舞水精如意”。“虎魄”即“琥珀”，一種植物樹脂的化石，性脆，硬度極低，摩擦帶電；“水精”即“水晶”，一種呈六方柱狀的石英石，性寒。二者皆不是制作搔杖的佳材，而且，戰國晚期的搔杖殘長40厘米，傳世和出土的天然琥珀或水晶雕刻品，超過20厘米，已屬罕見。由此推論，王嘉的以“虎魄”、“水精”藉之于如意，除了顯揚帝王生活的奢侈外，也透露出一個信息，如意發展到此時，已不再僅僅是搔癢用具了。
