A herbivorous dinosaur of the family Triceratops, found in the Late Cretaceous Late Maastricht Formation of North America, about 68 million to 65 million years ago. Triceratosaurus was one of the latest dinosaurs and was often regarded as the representative fossil of the Late Cretaceous. At present, there are two effective species: Pleated Triceratops and Exactly Triceratops, but other genera have been named. Triceratosaurus was also one of the most famous dinosaurs and was very popular in popular culture.
How much are dinosaur fossils worth? In the auction market, the most precious dinosaur skeleton fossil was auctioned at a sky-high price of 10 million US dollars. The fossil contained two dinosaurs'lethal struggle. The bones of Tyrannosaurus dwarf and Triceratosaurus, which were preserved in the fossils about 168 million years ago, show that both were seriously injured and eventually died. To scientists'surprise, some of the sharp teeth of the carnivorous dwarf Tyrannosaurus were embedded in the head of the Triceratosaurus, while the skull and chest bones of the dwarf Tyrannosaurus were crushed by the herbivorous dinosaur Triceratosaurus.
According to senior collectors, there is a trend of fossil collection all over the world, especially dinosaur fossils. Nathan Melvard, former CEO of Microsoft, is a dinosaur bone collector. A Tyrannosaurus skull hangs in his office. Bill Gates is also said to be a dinosaur bone collector.
Last year, under the Eiffel Tower in Paris, France, an unusual auction drew attention. It was not the work of any artist that was auctioned, but a masterpiece of nature, a nearly complete skeleton fossil of a new type of special dragon, which had evolved over billions of years. Ultimately, it was sold for 2 million euros. This high price undoubtedly reflects people's love for dinosaur fossils.
Most of the skeletons of ancient creatures are difficult to preserve. They must first die in water and quickly be covered with sand to escape the destruction of scavengers. Secondly, the strata they are in cannot be destroyed in the long years to come, let alone sink into the mantle. Finally, they should be discovered as soon as possible after being exposed to the surface, so as to avoid the fate of being weathered. In this way, each fossil is a series of coincidence superimposed miracles, natural value is not bad.
However, scientists may have a different passion for dinosaurs. From an evolutionary point of view, although there is no direct inheritance relationship between human beings and dinosaurs, there is a deep causal relationship between them. The rise of human beings benefits from the "help" of dinosaurs from some wonderful angles.
Studies of dinosaurs also show us more possibilities for life on Earth. It turns out that predators can also take the evolutionary path of Big Mac, and they don't need to be agile to catch prey.
Most importantly, dinosaurs are extinct. Systematic studies of a class of extinct organisms can tell us the causes of their extinction, and make us realize that on Earth, even stronger and more prosperous organisms may come to an end.
This fossil is of great collection value and scientific research value.
