江南省設于清朝順治二年(1645年)，省府位于江寧(今南京)。清代的江南省前身是明朝的南直隸江南省，范圍大致相當于今天的江蘇省、上海市和安徽省。康熙六年(1667年)清廷撤江南省，分設江蘇和安徽兩個省。南京造幣廠將其鑄造的銀幣標明“江南省造”，是因為當時蘇州已經有一個專鑄機制銅元的造幣廠，其鑄造的銅元均標明“江蘇省造”。為避免混淆，南京造幣廠將其鑄造的銀幣標明“江南省造”。系中貨幣史上著名的特殊銀幣，有江南省造銀幣而無江南省。
Jiangnan Province was established in Shunzhi, Qing Dynasty (1645), and the provincial capital was located in Jiangning (now Nanjing). The predecessor of Jiangnan Province in Qing Dynasty was Jiangnan Province of Nanzhili in Ming Dynasty, which roughly corresponds to Jiangsu, Shanghai and Anhui provinces today. In the sixth year of Kangxi (1667), the Qing government withdrew Jiangnan Province and divided it into Jiangsu and Anhui provinces. Nanjing Mint marked its silver coins as "Made in Jiangnan Province", because at that time there was already a coin factory in Suzhou which had a special machine for making copper yuan, and all the copper coins were marked "Made in Jiangsu Province". To avoid confusion, the Nanjing Mint marked its coins as "made in Jiangnan Province". It is a famous special silver coin in the history of currency system. There are silver coins made in Jiangnan Province but not in Jiangnan Province.
江南省被稱為曾經最富有的省份，賦稅貢獻占全國三分之一，也是一個巨無霸省份，清朝統治者出于統治的需要，把江南省一分為二，江蘇省和安徽省。所以江南省存在的時間非常短暫.
Jiangnan Province is known as the richest province in the past. Its tax contribution accounts for one third of the country. It is also a huge province. The rulers of the Qing Dynasty divided Jiangnan Province into two parts, Jiangsu Province and Anhui Province for the need of rule. So the time of Jiangnan Province's existence is very short.

南京造幣廠于光緒二十六年(1901年)鑄造，銀幣正面中央珠圈內鐫滿漢文“光緒元寶”四字，圈外上端鐫“江南省造”，下端鐫幣重“庫平七錢二分”，左右兩側分鐫干支紀年“辛丑”二字帶“HAH”圖樣。
銀幣背面中央鐫有蟠龍，上端鐫英文“江南省”，下端鐫英文幣重“庫平七錢二分”，左右各鐫一個六點梅花標記。
Nanjing Mint was minted in Guangxu 26 years (1901). The four characters of "Guangxu Yuanbao" in Chinese were engraved in the Pearl circle on the front of the silver coin. The upper end of the circle was engraved with "Made in Jiangnan Province". The lower end of the coin weighed "Kuping seven cents two cents", and the left and right sides were divided into "Xin-ugly" two-character band "HAH" pattern.
銀幣背面中央鐫有蟠龍，上端鐫英文“江南省”，下端鐫英文幣重“庫平七錢二分”，左右各鐫一個六點梅花標記。
On the back of the silver coin, there is a dragon in the center, and on the top is English "Jiangnan Province", while on the bottom is English coin weighing "Kuping seven cents two cents", with a six-point plum blossom mark on each side.
