玻璃隕石是一種天然玻璃物質。由于外觀似黑曜巖，故又稱似黑曜巖。但兩者的成分、結構都不同。中國古代稱之為雷公墨。唐代劉恂著《嶺表錄異》曾有記載。玻璃隕石內常含有氣泡空腔，大小由幾微米至幾毫米，個別可達幾厘米。還含有焦石英、柯石英、斜鋯石和隕石中常見的鐵鎳金屬等包體。一般認為，玻璃隕石是巨大的隕石或彗核撞擊地球，使地球表層巖石熔融高速濺出坑外急速冷卻而成。
玻璃隕石出現在珠寶玉石市場上，常制作成珠鏈和墜子，顏色呈現墨綠色、綠色，透射光下可看到表面及內部有許多圓形細小氣泡 ， 測得N=1.535，密度2.359-2.691g/cm3，因氣泡存在影響密度值。
玻璃隕石來自天外,它顯示的是飾品的稀有性與珍貴性，被人們獵奇、青睞，因而價格不菲。
