嘉慶通寶鑄于清仁宗嘉慶年間(1796-1820年)。錢面文字”嘉慶通寶"以楷書書寫，從上而下而右而左直讀。錢背滿文左"寶"，右為滿文鑄造錢局名，如泉、源、蘇、河、廣等。嘉慶通寶雕母及某些地方局的母錢均十分稀貴，制作工藝相當精致，不亞于乾隆時代，凡雕母上粗線條的刀痕都修飾干凈，母錢的肉質(zhì)呈細紗地狀，極為平整，字口十分清晰。
Jiaqing Tongbao was cast during the reign of Renzong in Qing Dynasty (1796-1820). Qian literary character "Jiaqing Tongbao" is written in regular script, read directly from top to bottom, right to left. Qian recites the left "treasure" of Manchu and the right is the name of Manchu Casting Bureau, such as Spring, Source, Su, River, Guangzhou, etc. Jiaqing Tongbao carved letters and mother money of some local bureaus are very precious, the production process is quite exquisite, no less than the Qianlong era, where the rough lines of the carved letters on the knife marks are decorated clean, the meat of the letters is spinning, very flat, the word mouth is very clear.
近日成都博古軒有幸征集到一枚嘉慶通寶小平母錢，規(guī)格: 直徑24.6mm 厚度：1.2mm 重量：3.75g。錢體呈暗褐色包漿，銹色得體、包漿自然，字體清晰品相一品。 定該錢為小平雕母錢，有三點依據(jù)。

該錢雖是入過土的生坑品， 略有銹斑（不是砂眼），但文字細瘦高挺，筆畫間無粘連， 字畫呈下寬上窄態(tài)勢， 字口如斬， 棱角分明。

此錢徑比同版別流通錢超大2毫米，輪緣、地張微有弧狀隆凸，穿孔有異普通寶陜小平錢，且面孔小背孔大，非常突出。該錢人工刻鏤痕跡明顯，一定是經(jīng)過雕工精施過， 符合“祖錢（即雕母）乃用上等銅料雕刻而成”的特征。錢幣大家鮑康在《大錢圖錄》中說：“每改元鑄新錢， 先選至潔之象牙刻作錢樣，呈錢法堂待郎鑒定， 然后以精銅鑿成祖錢……” 錢幣大師的論述說明，祖錢是非常珍貴的，是用來翻砂鑄母錢用的，以后開鑄，則悉用母錢印范。可見祖錢（雕母）為數(shù)至寡，至今難覓。是國內(nèi)外錢幣收藏家投資收藏的首要選擇！
