宋代至明清官窯均燒造孔雀綠釉器，各朝的色調及釉質都有所差別。宋朝時期制瓷發展迅猛，孔雀綠取得很大進展，特別是統治者對御廠瓷的嚴格要求促使其單色釉、釉下青花制品精益求精。宋代孔雀綠官窯瓷器，在當時就極為名貴，成功的作品不多。現在能夠完好保存下來的更是寥若晨星。清代是中國制瓷的鼎盛時期，尤其是早中期，為我國陶瓷史上的巔峰時代。而孔雀綠釉這一品種在明代晚期曾一度產量劇降，難覓其蹤，但到了康熙年間，孔雀綠釉器又開始興盛起來，并逐步走向孔雀藍釉史上的又一高峰。清代孔雀藍釉較宋代燒造的釉色變化更多，有的濃重蔥翠，有的淡而純凈。雍正、乾隆時，孔雀綠釉瓷器的造型種類更為豐富。孔雀綠釉最早從唐宋時期進口西亞波斯地區礦料燒孔雀綠釉，以后沒有礦料無法燒制，就是民窯燒不成功，孔雀綠釉瓷器易剝落。到了明代時期才發現一點礦料燒孔雀綠釉，特別珍貴稀少價值連城。

這件孔雀綠釉花口瓶為宋代孔雀綠釉佳器，花口長頸，圓腹，圈足外撇。通體及足內施青綠釉，外壁刻花飾枝葉型紋。此藏品與北京故宮博物院所藏松綠釉燈籠尊的雕工相若，陶匠利用多層式暗刻紋飾各部份巧妙地重迭，突出了枝葉的形態。紋飾刀法利落，雖在釉下而絕不顯得含糊。素胎上雖只施薄釉，顏色卻表現濃密，完全不帶積釉，卻能細致地填滿凹位，尤其顯見于葉片，片片清晰。在這高超的制作技巧下，泱泱大度的皇家官窯瓷器情景毅然活現眼前。其形尊貴秀挺，通體施孔雀綠釉，釉面光潔細薄，釉色鮮亮明艷，古穆而不失幽靚，觀之賞心悅目。孔雀綠釉器屬低溫釉，施釉較薄，時間一長很容易剝落，故保存較難。釉色之中，“孔雀綠”有著大多古陶瓷收藏家公認的美麗，向來有著不俗的拍場表現。2004年，一件明代宣德年間的孔雀綠瓷盤以 1238萬元的港幣落槌，小小一塊瓷盤竟能追捧到千萬元的天價，可見其美麗色彩對于收藏界的誘惑力。1989年蘇富比拍賣會上，一件明宣德孔雀綠釉暗花盤拍賣成交金額港幣 374萬元。本品歷經數百年而釉面依舊完好，極為難得。加之尊貴典雅，釉彩妍美多姿，彰顯出無與倫比的藝術魅力，珍罕程度必為世人所推崇。
